Oakley Footwear Seen at Terminator Salvation

LOS ANGELES, May 27, 2009 / FW/ — A sci-fi flick is perhaps one of the last places for a fashion item placement yet Oakley footwear did it with Oakley’s S.I. Assault boot for being the footwear of choice by the lead character John Connor played by Christian Bale.

The shoes which were originally developed as combat for the U.S. Elite Special Forces was given a “civilian” makeover for the open market found its way to Terminator Salvation and thus becoming a “shoe for the future.”

“We poured every bit of technology we could into the S.I. Assault Boot because we made it for those whose lives depend on their gear,” said Colin Baden, president of Oakley.
“You won’t see its durability or comfort on the big screen because film is about visual style. When the filmmakers chose our boot for the new installment of the famed ‘Terminator’ franchise, they honored the designers who took all that technology and shaped it with the art and authenticity of an Oakley original,” Baden concluded.
As part of the promotional tie-in with the movie, Oakley Stores throughout the U.S. and at select locations in Canada are providing two complimentary movie passes to the film with purchases of $175 or more, while supplies last.
The Oakley S.I. Assault Boot is a street version of gear developed specifically for the U.S. Elite Special Forces. A lightweight, athletically inspired design, it combines supple full-grain leather with a moisture-wicking liner and prime urethane shock absorption.
Engineered with directional lug geometry, the advanced polymer tread maintains wet/dry traction on smooth and rough terrain. Oakley developed the boot with special attention paid to load bearing stability, long-haul durability and the comfort of an optimized anatomical fit. A jump-ready design, the S.I. Assault Boot features an over-the-ankle boot shaft, an abrasion resistant toecap, and a gusseted tongue to prevent entry of water and debris.

This backpack was originated from the Terminator: Salvation movie. You can see John Conner (Christian Bale) wear a similar design during the end of the movie when he gets ready to infiltrate skynet but the pack he was wearing had no side pockets. My only complaint about this backpack is that the small pockets are really meant for small items. The flap prevents you from having it open all the way and when packing too many small items, your fingers will be shuffling around looking for items as you have to feel with your fingers for the items you want. The side bottom pockets are not as big as I hoped they would be. Since it only expands to a certain extent, the compression straps don’t really do anything. Overall, this is a nice looking backpack but if you plan on using it for school, I would recommend something else. There are no organizers of any sort, just lots of pockets. I give the design of the backpack a huge A+ but this backpack is more of a pack for camping etc.
