i-pad 1 vs. i-pad 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE9r_KN73Ts

A lot of people are asking me for a rundown of the differences between the original iPad and the new iPad 2 unveiled yesterday. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s changed, and what hasn’t changed.
Dimensions - CHANGED (slightly)
While the overall footprint of the iPad 2 is the same as that of the iPad, the thickness has gone down from 13.4mm to 8.8mm. The weight is also down for all models (WiFi model down from 680g to 601g while the WiFi + 3G is down from 730g to 613g for the AT&T model and 607g for the Verizon model.
Screen - UNCHANGED
No change here - The iPad 2 makes use of the same 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS 1024 x 768 screen as the original iPad. At this point one unknown relating to the screen is what graphics processor Apple has used. The original iPad used a PowerVR SGX 535 chip. We’ll have to wait for the teardowns to find this out.
Processor - UPDATED
Out with the old 1GHz single-core A4 chip, and in with a dual-core 1GHz A5 chip. The original A4 featured 256MB of RAM while the iPhone 4 has 512MB. Again, we’re going to have to wait for the teardowns to appear to know if this has changed.
Storage - UNCHNAGED
The options for storage remain the same - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
Radios - UPDATED
While WiFi and Bluetooth ramain the same (802.11 a/b/g/n and 2.1 + EDR respectively) the cell radio in the updated ipad has been updated. The original iPad featured EDGE plus triband HSPA while the iPad 2 features EDGE plus quadband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) for the AT&T versions and CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz) for the Verizon model.
Price - UNCHANGED
The price remains unchanged for all models - iPad 2 starts at $499 for the 16GB WiFi-only model.
New features
There are a few features completely new to the iPad 2. Here’s a rundown:
  • Front-facing VGA camera
  • Rear-facing 720p camera
  • Gyroscope
  • New case (optional) that is attached by magnets (how DO they work? ;) and features a microfibre surface.
  • HDMI output dongle (optional).

Rumors of the i-phone 5...proto-type what?

Forget the rumors of aniPhone 4S coming this fall. In fact, you may be able to forget an iPhone 4S entirely. Word on the street from Boy Genius Report is that the iPhone 5 is coming.
Apple has been rumored to be testing iPhone 4 (or 4S) models for T-Mobile and Sprint lately, causing many to conjecture that an iPhone 4S release this fall is entirely possible (with a full iPhone 5 release in January). BGR, however, "has independently confirmed that the next-generation iPhone will not merely be an upgraded iPhone 4 as had been previously rumored."
The iPhone 5 is coming in August.
At least that's what BGR's sources are reporting. Apple could make the iPhone 5 announcement in early August with a late-August availability expected.
Of course, Apple generally announces new iPods in September at the end of its annual back to school deal, but the source claims the company won't muddle theiPod lineup with the iPhone announcement.
As for the iPhone 5, specs are limited, though you can bet on a faster processor, upgraded camera, better graphics, and a new case design (which seems to be the only real "evidence" anyone has that a new phone is on the way).
Would an iPhone 4S be sufficient (or even a good idea), or should Apple release the iPhone 5 now? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Oakley PIT BOSS

Hey Oakley fans, here are some REALLY hot shades for you! These are from Oakley's Elite line of sunglasses. They are Called the PIT BOSS!

http://www.oakley.com/

Polarized PIT BOSS Sunglasses

He is the voice in the race driver’s headset and the commander of a crew that turns the blitz and frenzy of split seconds into poetry in motion. He is the boss, period. Oakley PIT BOSS is the design that owns the respect of its namesake. When an attitude this assertive meets a sculpture this honed, it’s not about getting in somebody’s face and roaring orders. It’s the simple idea that you’ve earned your place, and they damn well better respect that.
An original vision of Oakley’s founder, PIT BOSS was four years in the making. State-of-the-art technology wasn’t the issue. Oakley had already become a world leader in optical innovation, and from the first inception of this sunglass, everyone knew it would be a show case for the very best that science could offer. For the founding father of Oakley, it was a matter of art and style, and it became a relentless pursuit of perfection. PIT BOSS had to be absolutely unique, completely original, and as outspoken and assertive as those who earn the right to wear it. Some of the most talented designers in the industry gave a chunk of their lives to attaining that vision. After years of tireless work, they nailed it.
The technology of PIT BOSS is just as aggressive as the styling. It matches our stress-resistant O MATTER® frame material with ultra-lightweight titanium plates, forged at searing temperatures and chiseled by Computer Numeric Controlled machinery with a precision of 0.002 inches. That’s just one five-hundredth of an inch, and it gives you an idea of the craftsmanship behind the creation. For high-velocity impact protection, we used hexalobular bolts to secure the plates with authority. Our Three-Point Fit maintains comfort all day while holding the lenses in precise optical alignment, and the lenses themselves are a thing of technical beauty.
Every frame comes with premium Oakley HDPOLARIZED lenses that filter out 99% of glare without the visual haze and optical distortion that comes with ordinary polarized lenses. The back of each lens has the added protection and glare reduction of anti-reflective (AR) coating, and the front is augmented with IRIDIUM® coating to further reduce glare while precisely balancing light transmission. On top of all that, we added Oakley HYDROPHOBIC™/OLEOPHOBIC technology, a permanent coating that repels dust while maintaining a smudge-resistant barrier against skin oils, fingerprints, lotions and sunscreens. It even repels water to prevent streaks and sheens from corrupting your point of view.
The lenses wrap your vision with 8.75 base curvature, a contour that extends peripheral view and improves side protection against sun, wind and impact. Even with the styling of that much curvature, you’ll have razor-sharp clarity at every angle of view because the lenses are engineered with XYZ OPTICS®, one of the patented innovations of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®) combines patented optics and PLUTONITE® lens material that provides 100% UV filtering and unsurpassed impact protection.
The pure PLUTONITE®lenses filter out 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light up to 400nm. Optical precision meets the uncompromising standards of ANSI Z87.1, and same goes for protection against high-velocity and high- mass impact. If you need corrective optics, this frame is available with Oakley Authentic Prescription Lenses.
We created three unique lens/frame color combinations for PIT BOSS, and the lenses in each rendition are designed for bright sun. The Matte Rootbeer & Bronze version comes with Tungsten IRIDIUM® Polarized lenses that increase visual contrast to bring out detail and enhance depth perception. The Polished Black & Gunmetal edition comes with VR28® Black IRIDIUM® Polarized lenses that offer the same benefits. If precise color perception is critical, choose the Matte Black & Titanium frame with Black IRIDIUM® Polarized lenses.
PIT BOSS is crowned with metal icons specially designed for the OAKLEY ELITE family, an exclusive collection that seamlessly blends the world’s most advanced optical technologies with aesthetics like nothing ever seen in the realm of eyewear. PIT BOSS comes with a custom display box suitable for collectors, plus a custom MICROCLEAR™ bag for lens cleaning and frame storage.
