Terminator Salvation 2009: Oakley in Movies Part 8: Oakley Assult Boots

Oakley Footwear Seen at Terminator Salvation

LOS ANGELES, May 27, 2009 / FW/ — A sci-fi flick is perhaps one of the last places for a fashion item placement yet Oakley footwear did it with Oakley’s S.I. Assault boot for being the footwear of choice by the lead character John Connor played by Christian Bale.
Terminator Salvation
The shoes which were originally developed as combat for the U.S. Elite Special Forces was given a “civilian” makeover for the open market found its way to Terminator Salvation and thus becoming a “shoe for the future.”

Oakley S.I. Assault Boot
“We poured every bit of technology we could into the S.I. Assault Boot because we made it for those whose lives depend on their gear,” said Colin Baden, president of Oakley.
“You won’t see its durability or comfort on the big screen because film is about visual style. When the filmmakers chose our boot for the new installment of the famed ‘Terminator’ franchise, they honored the designers who took all that technology and shaped it with the art and authenticity of an Oakley original,” Baden concluded.
As part of the promotional tie-in with the movie, Oakley Stores throughout the U.S. and at select locations in Canada are providing two complimentary movie passes to the film with purchases of $175 or more, while supplies last.
The Oakley S.I. Assault Boot is a street version of gear developed specifically for the U.S. Elite Special Forces. A lightweight, athletically inspired design, it combines supple full-grain leather with a moisture-wicking liner and prime urethane shock absorption.
Engineered with directional lug geometry, the advanced polymer tread maintains wet/dry traction on smooth and rough terrain. Oakley developed the boot with special attention paid to load bearing stability, long-haul durability and the comfort of an optimized anatomical fit. A jump-ready design, the S.I. Assault Boot features an over-the-ankle boot shaft, an abrasion resistant toecap, and a gusseted tongue to prevent entry of water and debris.

This backpack was originated from the Terminator: Salvation movie. You can see John Conner (Christian Bale) wear a similar design during the end of the movie when he gets ready to infiltrate skynet but the pack he was wearing had no side pockets. My only complaint about this backpack is that the small pockets are really meant for small items. The flap prevents you from having it open all the way and when packing too many small items, your fingers will be shuffling around looking for items as you have to feel with your fingers for the items you want. The side bottom pockets are not as big as I hoped they would be. Since it only expands to a certain extent, the compression straps donĂ¢€™t really do anything. Overall, this is a nice looking backpack but if you plan on using it for school, I would recommend something else. There are no organizers of any sort, just lots of pockets. I give the design of the backpack a huge A+ but this backpack is more of a pack for camping etc.

Drive Angry: Oakley in Movies Part 7: Oakley Fuel Cell

Nicolas Cage headlines this high-octane thriller as Milton, a hard-case felon who breaks out of Hell to prevent the cult that murdered his daughter from sacrificing his infant granddaughter to Satan on the night of the full moon. With just three days to go before the ritual killing, Milton crosses paths with knockout waitress Piper (Amber Heard), who steals her cheating ex-boyfriend's vintage Charger and joins him on his quest to save the Earth from the forces of darkness. With Piper's help and a mean set of wheels to keep them moving, they may have a shot at taking down diabolical cult leader Jonah King (Billy Burke) before he achieves his malevolent goal. But should Jonah get the opportunity to make his dark sacrifice, he will become the most powerful man alive and all of humanity will suffer. Unfortunately for Milton, the cops are quickly closing in, and the Devil's determined minion, "The Accountant" (William Fichtner), will stop at nothing to drag him back down to Hell. With each passing minute, Milton's last shot at redemption is fading, and the fate of the entire world inches ever closer to infernal darkness. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

FUEL CELL Sunglasses

We’ve been toying with a mix of art and technology for some time. The idea was to create clean, authentic style for those who don’t just walk the path of life – they stomp it and leave footprints. That’s what led to Oakley FUEL CELL™. The idea here is unflinching originality and a smooth look. It’s proof that when authenticity speaks for itself, it speaks with volume.
The two lenses are actually cut from a single shield of optically pure PLUTONITE® then placed in the frame to maintain the original, continuous contour. An innovation of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®), POLARIC ELLIPSOID™ lens geometry extends clarity all the way to your peripheral view, exceeding ANSI Z87.1 optical standards. Impact protection meets ANSI Z87.1 basic standards while UV filtering is an unbeatable 100% for every single ray of UVA, UVB and UVC. The lens curvature and frame architecture improve side protection, and durable yet lightweight O MATTER® frame material maximizes comfort with a perfect Three-Point Fit.
Think of our polarization as a glare kill switch that’s always on. Oakley HDPolarized lenses are an option for FUEL CELL, and they block 99% of those irritating rays that interfere with vision. If you weren’t born with perfect eyes, no sweat – FUEL CELL is available with Oakley Authentic Prescription Lenses (+2.00 through -4.00 combined power). You’ll also see “IRIDIUM®” in the list of optional lenses. It’s a permanent coating that tunes and balances light while reducing glare.

Transformers 3: Oakley in Movies Part 5: Oakley Gascan 3D

3D Technology is Constantly Evolving. We’re Tired of Waiting.

We just opened up a whole new dimension in entertainment. OAKLEY 3D GASCAN® is the first optically correct 3D eyewear ever made and is certified by RealD®, the world’s most widely used 3D cinema technology. Oakley gives you the ultimate in clarity, comfort and performance, and all that adds up to the ultimate 3D experience.
Authentic TechRealDHDO-3D has earned official certification from RealD®, the worlds’s most widely used 3D technology.

Optical Clarity

With HDO-3D™ , your vision is razor sharp and accurate. In fact, Oakley 3D Gascan is the first on the planet to have optically correct 3D lenses. Ordinary non-prescription lenses can distort your vision by magnifying images and making objects appear shifted from their true position. HDO-3D™ virtually eliminates these kinds of visual distortion.

Unparalleled Comfort

All Oakley eyewear is engineered with our legendary three-point fit, which virtually eliminates the frustrating loose fitting of ordinary 3D glasses. And because they’re made of lightweight O Matter material, you’ll be free to watch your programming unencumbered by discomfort.

Truer Colors

Some 3D lenses can subtly change your perception of colors, diminishing the fidelity of what the director intended for the movie. HDO-3D™ lenses offer an uncompromising level of color fidelity so you will see what the director had in mind for every shot.

Better Light Management

Reflections can ruin a 3D entertainment experience. HDO-3D™ lenses have cylindrical base curvature that virtually eliminates reflections, unlike “flatter” 3D lenses that fail to address the problem. Thanks to HDO-3D™ , Oakley can offer the world’s first 3D lenses with high-wrap curvature.

Optimized Durability

The disposable 3D glasses in movie theaters are fragile and the lenses are easily scratched. HDO-3D™ lenses are made of a material that resists scratches, and with Oakley eyewear, you are getting a level of durability that comes from decades of innovation.

Allignment of 3D Images

Inferior 3D lenses can create “ghosting” or “crosstalk” between images that reach each eye. Using a process called Bi-Ocular Axis Optimization, HDO-3D™ lenses achieve the precision to ensure truer alignment of images.

The Visual Power of Passive 3D Technology

Oakley 3D eyewear is engineered to work with so-called passive 3D technology, which is the design format most commonly found in state-of-the-art 3D movie theaters and upcoming 3DTVs.
Oakley 3D glasses do not require a power source (which is a requirement with those “active” 3D glasses) and with HDO-3D™ lenses, the passive filtration of images virtually eliminates the ghosting or “crosstalk” between images that reach each eye from one moment to the next, a potential problem with inferior 3D eyewear.
